Product Details
The Surcam torque ratchet wrench is a friction-style dental implant torque wrench for tightening abutment and prosthetic screws to a set torque value. It takes drivers with a 6.35 mm hex drive.
Why use a torque wrench for implant screws
Under-tightening a prosthetic screw can lead to screw loosening and micromovement, while over-tightening can deform or fracture the screw. Hand tightening can't reliably reach a target value, so a torque wrench is the way to give every screw the same preload. Always use the torque value stated in the instructions for use of the component you are tightening.
Tested accuracy
In an independent in-vitro study published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, the friction-style torque wrenches tested, including Surcam's, showed lower deviation and higher precision than the spring-style wrenches tested. Read the study summary.
